Hindi Diwas Celebrated at Jagannath Barooah University

Jagannath Barooah University celebrated Hindi Diwas on 15th September, 2025 at Conference Hall 1 in a vibrant and befitting manner, highlighting the importance of Hindi as a language of unity and culture.

The programme was graced by distinguished Chief Guests, Dr. Runu Sharma Boruah, Trustee Chairperson of Purvasha Hindi Academy, and Dr. Vijay Kumar Verma, Former Head of the Department of Hindi, JB College. Other dignitaries present included Registrar Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Surajit Sharma, Dean of Arts Dr. Minakshi Phukan Hazarika, and faculty members of the university.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Punam Pal Singh, Head of the Department of Hindi. All the dignitaries delivered insightful speeches on the significance of Hindi and its role in national integration. Student representatives Isha Bora, Rishita Dutta, and Priyanka Sharma also shared their views through brief speeches.

The cultural segment of the programme included poem recitations by Mrinmoy Saikia, Ankur Bora, and Arisha Barik, a solo song by Sayanika Bora, followed by group songs and group dances performed by the students.

On this occasion, the Purvasha Hindi Academy felicitated the top three graduates of the Department of Hindi (Batch of 2025). The awardees were:

Pronami Bhakat

As part of the Hindi Diwas celebrations, three competitions were also organised:

  • Hindi Handwriting Competition (for teaching and non-teaching staff)
  • Inter-Department Poem Recitation Competition
  • Inter-Department Drawing Competition

Third: Diganta Gogoi (Office Staff)

Fourth: Dr. Champak Deka (Department of Sanskrit)

Poem Recitation Competition

First: Ankur Bora (Economics)

Second: Mrinmoy Saikia (Hindi)

Third: Rajashree Bora (Hindi)

Fourth: Subonti Sahu (Hindi)

Drawing Competition

First: Anushmita Das (Economics)

Second: Ankur Bora (Economics)

Third: Rishi Saikia (Zoology)

Fourth: Bornalee Bordoloi (Electronics)

The book prizes for the winners of the competitions were sponsored by Assam Rashtrabhasha Prashar Samiti.

The programme was anchored by Monmi Borthakur and concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Sital Newar.
