The Women Cell of Jagannath Barooah University organized a special programme to celebrate International Women’s Day on 9 March 2026 at the university campus. The event aimed to recognize the achievements of women and inspire students through interaction with accomplished personalities.

The programme was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath Barooah University, Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, who delivered the inaugural address. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment through education, perseverance, and leadership, and encouraged students to work with dedication and confidence to achieve their goals.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Minakshi Hazarika, who highlighted the significance of celebrating women’s achievements and promoting gender equality in society.

On this occasion, the Women Cell invited two inspirational speakers—Dr. Rima Das, a nationally and internationally acclaimed filmmaker, and Ms. Annesha Duarah, who secured the 2nd rank in the APS examination in 2024. Both speakers delivered motivational talks and shared their challenging journeys, experiences, and valuable insights with the audience. Their inspiring words greatly motivated the students and participants present at the programme.

As a mark of appreciation, the Women Cell of Jagannath Barooah University felicitated both distinguished guests for their praiseworthy work, dedication, and service to society.

The programme was anchored by Ms. Utpala Bhaskar, who smoothly conducted the event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Swapna Bora, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, the invited speakers, and all participants for making the event meaningful and successful.
