Chancellor
Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya
The Hon’ble Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, serves as the Chancellor of Jagannath Barooah University. He assumed office as the 32nd Governor of Assam on 30th July 2024. Prior to this, he held the esteemed position of Governor of Sikkim.
Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia
Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia joined as the first Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath Barooah University on 28th July 2025. He is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at Dibrugarh University. Prof. Saikia previously served as the founding Vice-Chancellor of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Assam. A prolific bilingual writer from Sivasagar, Assam, Prof. Saikia has made significant contributions to Assamese literature and academia.

Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta
Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta joined as the first Registrar of Jagannath Barooah University on 28th July 2025. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Principal of Jagannath Barooah College (Autonomous), Assam, since 2022. Dr. Mahanta has also previously served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Sibsagar College.
