Vision & Mission

 VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • To make the students understand importance of different concepts in Sociology.
  • To introduce the students to the world of Sociological thoughts, ideas and theories.
  • To help them to understand Sociological theories and ideas in their distinctive and relative terms and importance of these in the contemporary society.
  • To introduce the students to the dynamics of social issues in the local, national and global contexts.
  • To equip them to critically relate the theoretical aspects of Sociology to the socio-economic realities of present-day situation.
  • To develop their faculty of critical and creative thinking of the students and to make them skilled.

MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Acquire domain knowledge.
  • Study and analyze social issues and dynamics from critical and constructive perspective.
  • Have a better understanding of the working of various social institutions in different levels- global, national, state and local.
  • Develop the qualities of responsible and responsive human being and thereby contribute to the process of nation building.
  • Develop and practice the faculty of critical thinking and logical inferences about various social issues on the basis of comparative and contemporary sociological discourses in India.
  • Pursue higher education such as post graduate studies and other related professional courses and pursue research in Sociology and in other interdisciplinary areas to provide qualitative insights to create a better world to live in.
