An educational exposure tour was organized for the students of Statistics (Major) to the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Extension Centre, Jorhat, on 26 February 2026. The visit aimed to familiarize students with emerging technological skills and professional training opportunities in the fields of information technology and electronics.
During the visit, students were introduced to the wide range of courses offered by NIELIT, including digital literacy programmes such as CCC and BCC, long-term academic programmes like A/B/C Level courses, B.Tech and B.Sc programmes, as well as various short-term skill-oriented courses in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Python programming, and Data Science. The resource persons explained how these programmes, ranging from free beginner-level courses to postgraduate-level training, are designed to enhance employability and promote skill development among students.
The tour provided valuable exposure to practical learning environments and emerging career avenues in technology-driven sectors. The group was escorted by Dr. Rituraj Barua and Mrs. Smritirekha Doley, faculty members, who guided and supervised the students throughout the visit. The programme proved to be informative and beneficial, encouraging students to explore interdisciplinary opportunities combining statistics and data science.
